William Poole was a Quaker of Wilmington, Delaware. He was born in 1784, the son of William and Elizabeth Shipley Canby Poole. In 1791 he married Sarah Sharpless. He died in 1829. Darby Monthly Meeting was established in 1684 by Chester [Concord] Quarterly Meeting out of Chester Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Darby Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) removed to Lansdowne in 1831.
